Back in February/March 2012 I was invited to participate in The Wing Assignment.

The Wing Assignment is a collaborative exercise to inspire and bring together talents from a range of disciplines exploring a theme and idea. The assignment is to create an artwork inspired by or using a birds wing. The wings inspire the creative process resulting in beautiful and thought provoking works. Through these works, we hope to honour the birds.

"The imagery of birds or wings had never presented themselves as a source of inspiration to fuel my repertoire and creative process. However, after much time thinking, and having meditated the notion, I am enjoying the sensation of using wings in my work. It all suddenly made more sense when I came across the work of acclaimed artist sculptor, Leonard Baskin, the original 'birdman'.
By not taking direct inspiration from the beautiful wings I was sent, rather, I have allowed them to initiate a certain way that I could employ them in this project."

Selected artists will be invited to exhibit their artworks at Red Bull Studios from 19 - 25 September 2012. A selection panel of high profile creatives will review all artwork in Aug 2012 for inclusion in the show. Artwork will be for sale at the exhibition

Further developments and details will follow in due course.
